Why a phone beats a buzzer kit

Physical lockout systems cost $50 to $300, need batteries, and cap out at 8 or 10 players. A phone buzzer scales to the whole room, up to 100 players, and nobody has to pass a cable down the table.

Every player sees their own result too. A plastic button lights up; a phone tells you that you were first, or second by 0.12 seconds.

What the host gets

A four-letter room code, the buzz order with the time gap behind first place, right and wrong buttons, a live scoreboard, teams, an answer timer and custom points. On iPad the whole thing fits on one desk-style screen.

How it works

  1. 1Open a room

The host taps Host a Game and gets a four-letter code, plus a QR code and a share link.

  2. 2Friends join

Players open the app on their own iPhone or iPad, type the code and a name. No shared Wi-Fi needed.

  3. 3First press wins

The host opens the round. Buzzes are ranked by when each phone was pressed.

Questions

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. Game Show Buzzer runs on iPhone and iPad, for the host and for every player.

Is the buzzer app free?

Joining a game is always free, with no account and no ads. Each host’s first game night is free with everything unlocked. After that, hosting needs Pro or a one-night Party Pass.

Does it make a sound?

Yes. Each press plays a buzz and a strong haptic, and the first player gets a distinct sound so the room knows who won the buzz.
